BAS BLANC began his successful performance career in France , qualifying to compete at Fontainbleau as a 4-, 5- and 6- year-old. He was sold to Germany as a 9-year old in 1998 where he competed successfully with Helena Weinberg in international 1.50m classes in CSIA Ascona, CSIA and CSIA Gijon, CSIA Bremen, CSIA Dusseldorf. He was sold to the U.S in February, 1999 and then competed in CSIA Pinerolo in September , 1999. He returned to the U.S. in 2001 and competed lightly. A jumping injury ended his career in 2003.
His first foal crop arrived in 2006 and exhibited tremendous potential and beautiful movement.
BAS BLANC was approved as a breeding stallion in France in 1993. His sire, Artichaut, produced a number of good national and international jumpers, including the approved stallion , Quartz du Vallon, and Orchestre (ridden by McLain Ward to many Grand Prix wins and placings in the US).
The name "BAS BLANC" means "white bottom" refering to his four white socks.
